Multiple pet food recalls this week spark fears of bacterial infections: Avoid these products for dogs, cats, and hedgehogs Viva Raw LLC of Hillsborough, North Carolina, is voluntarily recalling various lots of some of its cat and dog food products due to fears that the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

According to the recall notice posted on the FDA website, the recall covers the following products, all of which have Lot #21244: Dilated Cardiomyopathy in Dogs Lawsuit over alleged DCM, grain-free dog food connection This lawsuit follows another class action filed earlier this year that involved grain-free dog food and DCM.

In late June, a Missouri court certified a proposed class action lawsuit that includes Missouri citizens who purchased Taste of the Wild Grain-Free Dog Food in Missouri at any time from August 27, 2015, to June 21, 2024. The lawsuit claims that the defendant falsely and deceptively marketed its Taste of the Wild grain-free dog food.

The lawsuit alleges that the defendant represented to consumers that its grain-free dog food was ”uniquely high-quality, safe and healthy,” but the lawsuit claimed that grain-free dog food is associated with an increased risk of developing dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). This lawsuit follows another class action filed earlier this year against Hill’s Pet Nutrition that involved grain-free dog food and DCM.
